All of our custom printed silk items are handmade to order by real people, there will be some variance in the dimensions, measurements, and shape.
Classic custom Silk Satin Fabric is stronger than it looks and feels. The resistance of the fabric combined with industry-leading reactive printing give you the best quality made of a satin weave, with an organzine warp, using crepe twist yarn. It has no elasticity, just a little give in the bias but is otherwise taut all over.
We use reactive printing to honour this gorgeous silk satin. With shine on the face and a matte finish on the reverse, the detail of the final print is very fine and produces crisp lines with rich block colours. Precision is clear and intricate work will show up perfectly. The reactive silk printing process creates superior colour depth, with great wash and rub fastness. The reactive dyes we use bond to the fabric fibres, rather than lying on the surface - meaning your silk can be washed with other garments. A predictable amount of shrinkage is likely to occur, this is normal and to be expected, and will be more apparent in the natural fabrics. The average shrinkage is 2-8%.
Due to the natural softness of the high-quality fabrics we use, the edges of your silk product may be a little wavy.
With environmental consciousness in mind, our fabrics are all printed using completely water-based inks. This means no chemicals or solvents are used. Our heat fixing procedure fixes the colours and prints, avoiding the downsides of steaming, such as excess or contaminated water returning into the waste system.
I personally find, as with ALL clothes and silks I buy, these tops are even extra special after their first wash. I wash them inside out in a colour 30 degrees wash. Strong wash fastness with no loss of colour.
